Ok...got me there. Riddle me this though...THAT (AoC, which TANKED by the way) was the best competition EVE had? No wonder it won...that was kind of my point, guess I was in sarcasti-mode already. 
AoC sucked at release like most mmo's, but they actually fixed it. Not that i will play it anyway as its pretty much a wow clone.

That's exactly how it went with Anarchy Online and Age of Conan... despite both games featuring some pretty good ideas and elements, they suffered from horrible launches and general mismanagement (hopefully they'll finally figure it out next time with The Secret World).
Anarchy Online was actually a great game in the time after they fixed the initial release problems and before they added shadowgrind. Too bad they discarded all the good ideas from Anarchy Online when they made AoC to copy Wow instead. I actually had faith in funcom and AoC and even preordered the game. The result was so far away from what i expected i didnt even finish my free time in the game and uninstalled it after about a week.
